Evidence Based Policy Making In VET: Examples From Practice In The Western Balkans And Turkey

The objective of this workshop is to present the evidence based policy-making approach and to discuss how this is understood and implemented by the Enlargement countries in their search for finding solutions to VET policy challenges on their way to accession.

Therefore, the focus of this event is twofold. The first one concerns partner country developments in VET reforms, which entails a series of questions like: “What evidence do we use in VET reform processes in our own country context?” and “What lessons can we draw from own experience with evidence based policy-making bringing improvement in reform?” The second one concerns the debate on knowledge about evidence based policy practice, particularly looking into experience from the Western Balkans and Turkey and EU Member States: “How does knowledge become an important ingredient in the policymaking process?” And: “What are we learning from participatory approaches in evidence based policy-making?

The core discussions during the event will rely on practical examples and experiences, understood as a set of methods, Evidence Based Policy Making In VET: Examples From Practice In The Western Balkans And Turkey tools and approaches which inform the policy process.
Specific objectives are:

  • to share lessons learned from different approaches in evidence based policy making in the Western Balkans and Turkey and EU Member States;
  • to present and discuss different tools, methods and approaches to evidence based policy-making, and their potential for improving the reform process.

Expected outcomes are:

  1. increased awareness on the role and potential of evidence in VET policy making in the Western Balkans and Turkey;
  2. awareness of tools, actors and networks to be developed and strengthened in order to build an evidence based approach to VET policy-making responsive to socioeconomic needs.

The event is being organized by the European Training Foundation (ETF).
