Launched Joint Information System on Recognition of Academic Qualifications in Western Balkans!

The Joint Information System (JIS)  developed to facilitate the recognition of academic qualifications in the Western Balkan region was launched in May 2020. It is now publicly available on address: www.wb-qualifications.org/.

The important feature of the JIS is the first regional register of accredited higher education institutions and programmes. It is developed as the regional database that will provide information and relevant documents on accredited higher education institutions (HEIs) and study programmes in the region.

Currently it contains information on accreditation of over 6000 HEIs and study programmes in six Western Balkans economies. It is being updated based on information provided by accreditation authorities in each economy.

The JIS also contains description of higher education systems, recognition procedures (describing both recognition for the purpose of employment and continuing education), contacts of institutions in the region in charge of the recognition of academic qualifications and the description of quality assurance systems in the Western Balkan region.

The JIS is an output of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) – Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe ERI SEE Secretariat Working group on recognition of academic qualifications, composed of representatives of ministries of education, ENIC and NARIC offices from the region and QA agencies in higher education.
