Overview of the quality assurance (QA) systems in pre-tertiary education in South Eastern Europe and Moldova, with focus on external evaluation of institutions and external evaluators’ trainings, has been produced within the project Enhancements in the quality of education and training in SEE – EQET SEE and its Quality Assurance (QA) component.

This publication is a result of joint efforts of the agencies for quality assurance in pre-tertiary education and their representatives from seven economies: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, Moldova, North Macedonia and Serbia and ERI SEE Secretariat.

The publication gives an overview of the most relevant aspects of external evaluation of institutions in above-mentioned economies in an easily understandable and comparable manner. It contains information on legislation relevant for external evaluation of institutions, institutions in charge and their mandate, system of external evaluation, framework and standards used, process of external evaluation (including frequency and use) and internal evaluation, as well as information on position of external evaluators, entry requirements and qualification for their recruitment, training and monitoring of external evaluators and issues identified concerning the external evaluation in VET and general education in seven economies.
