Renewable Energy Services in Education and Training – RESET – continued activities in 2024

The Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe – ERI SEE, in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ, continued the implementation of the Renewable Energy Services in Education and Training – RESET project as a component of the Green Agenda: Decarbonizing of the Electricity Sector in the Western Balkans . The 2024 activities focused on supporting the development of socially and environmentally sustainable learning material for renewable energy-based occupations and organising large-scale conferences targeting education and energy sector stakeholders in the Western Balkans.

EduEnergy: Building Bridges for Sustainable Energy Learning regional conference gathered 200 participants in an on-line forum on 15 March 2024 to open discussion on the relevance of the green transition for education and energy sector and the overall social impact that is expected to take place in the Western Balkans. The conference was organised by the– ERI SEE in cooperation with the– GIZ and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.

Following the successful implementation of the EduEnergy conference the ERI SEE in cooperation with the GIZ organised the second regional conference  EduEnergy 2.0: Towards Shaping the Future of Renewable Energy Transition in the Western Balkans towards fostering dialogue on the evolving role of the education sector in the context of the region’s transition towards renewable energy. Discussions focused on how current and future labour market trends intersect with social sustainability, economic inclusion, and gender equity. A key objective was to further labour market and educational trends that ensure the green economy not only promotes environmental goals but also provides opportunities for all, particularly by addressing barriers to women’s participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Regional stakeholder consultations led to the decision for the RESET project to support the green transition through the development of learning material for training of VET graduates to work on solar panels and wind turbines.

More about the Renewable Energy Services in Education and Training – RESET project is available on the ERI SEE website. The RESET project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is being implemented by the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe – ERI SEE in six Western Balkan economies.
