1st meeting of the Joint Working Group on Recognition of Academic Qualifications (WG RAQ) – Belgrade, 15th December 2017

By formalising the Joint Education Reform Initiative of South East Europe (ERI SEE) – Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Working Group on Recognition of Academic Qualifications (WG RAQ) the Western Balkans Six (WB6) have officially started its work on finding the model for automatic recognition of academic qualifications in the region. The 1st formal meeting of the WG RAQ took place in Belgrade on 15th December 2017.

Under the auspices of the KulturKontakt Austria and ERI SEE, a meeting / workshop between the representatives of the regional VET centres (gathered under the umbrella of the SEEVET Network) and representatives of the regional Chambers of Economy (gathered under the umbrella of the Chambers Investment Forum – CIF) was organized, with the purpose of continuation of planning a regional project proposal dealing with the subject of developing joint standards of occupation and qualifications, and curricula and their piloting, and developing an on-line regional platform for Work Based Learning.

The European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) is a platform managed by the European Commission in close cooperation with EU social partners that brings together governments with other key stakeholders, for instance business associations, individual companies, social partners, chambers, vocational education and training (VET) providers, regions, youth representatives or think tanks. The common goal is to strengthen the quality, supply, image and mobility of apprenticeships in Europe.

23rd meeting of the ERI SEE Governing Board, 6th October 2017, Belgrade

The 23rd ERI SEE Governing Board meeting took place on 6th October 2017, in Belgrade. It gathered the representatives of the ministries of education from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia, as well as from the Regional Cooperation Council and KulturKontakt Austria; and was chaired by the Serbian representatives. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Consultative Body – European Training Foundation and Austrian Federal Ministry of Education.

he 2017 Western Balkans Summit took place in Trieste, Italy, on 12th July 2017, where the Heads of Government, Foreign Ministers, Ministers of Economy and Ministers of Transport of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo* and Serbia) together with their counterparts from several EU Member States (Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia) and high-level EU representatives discussed key areas of regional cooperation, and set out concrete measures to better connect the region's infrastructures, economies and people.
